Panzers Last Stand

Panzers Last Stand is a Battalion Combat Series game depicting the Axis relief operations around Budapest in the final months of the Second World War.

The game covers the Konrad operations of January 1945, when German forces attempted to break through to the surrounded Budapest garrison, as well as later scenarios for Operation Southwind and Operation Spring Awakening. This was one of the last major armored concentrations of the war, with SS and Heer panzer formations, Soviet tank and mechanized corps, Romanian forces, Hungarian units, naval infantry, assault pioneers, cavalry, and improvised city defenders all fighting across a battlefield dominated by armor, rivers, cities, and collapsing strategic options.

Using the BCS system, Panzers Last Stand sits between tactical and operational warfare, focusing on battalion-level maneuver, command limits, combined arms, and tempo. Special rules cover the Danube crossings, urban combat, Festung Budapest, maskirovka, and the distinctive late-war conditions of the campaign. This is best suited for experienced wargamers or players ready for a substantial battalion-level treatment of the Budapest fighting.
