Stalingrad Besieged is a Worthington Publishing WWII wargame covering the 1942 battle for Stalingrad. Designed for 1 to 2 players and playable in about an hour or less, it lets players refight the campaign inside the city using their preferred component style: cards, large wooden blocks, or oversized counters.
The game focuses on the brutal urban fight itself. A German 1942 map of Stalingrad is divided into key city locations, with movement and combat handled through those areas. Fighting is frequent, block-by-block, and both sides remain dangerous even when the other player is moving.
Victory revolves around control of the ferry points and the tank factory. Players move units, may play event cards, fight battles, and bring back eliminated units through replacement points — but each replacement also forces another dead-pile unit to be permanently removed. That gives the game a sharp attritional edge and keeps the pressure high throughout the short play time.
