Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game is a standalone two-player card game of Rebel Alliance versus Galactic Empire. Each player starts with a small deck, then buys cards from the galaxy row, recruits iconic Star Wars characters and ships, influences the Force, and tries to destroy three enemy bases before their own side falls.
The Rebel and Imperial factions have distinct playstyles, giving each side a different feel. The Rebels tend to rely on coordination, evasion, and resourceful heroes, while the Empire leans into military pressure, control, and raw power. The shifting market, different bases, and Force track all help shape how each match develops.
A strong choice for players who want a quick Star Wars card battle without needing collectible cards, deck construction, or heavy rules overhead.
This is a complete standalone game. It can also be combined with Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game – Clone Wars Edition.
Contents include: 10 Empire Starter Cards, 10 Rebel Starter Cards, 90 Galaxy Cards, 10 Outer Rim Pilot Cards, 20 Base Cards, 1 Balance of the Force Track, 50 Damage Counters, 20 Resource Counters, and 1 Force Marker.
Boardgamegeneral advice:
"Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game is a quick-playing card battle game with enough variety to stay interesting. The two factions feel distinct, and the game is well-balanced enough that both sides have satisfying paths to victory.
It can be over quickly, but it can also turn into a real slog if both players keep replacing destroyed capital ships and denying each other key cards. That variability is part of the appeal: the different bases and the order in which cards enter the galaxy row can shape each match in a different way.
The market system is one of the best parts of the game. Do you buy a useful card now, destroy an enemy card to deny it, or leave something sitting there because your opponent may have to waste attacks removing it? The tug of war over the Force also adds a nice extra layer, because some cards become stronger or weaker depending on where the Force currently sits.
This is a good way to have a Star Wars card battle with friends without needing collectible cards, difficult rules, or deck construction before the game begins."
