Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game – Clone Wars Edition

Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game – Clone Wars Edition is a standalone two-player card game set during the Clone Wars. One player commands the Galactic Republic, while the other leads the Separatist Confederacy. Both sides build stronger decks over the course of the game, recruit iconic characters and units, and try to destroy three enemy bases before their own side collapses.

The game is quick to learn and fast to play, but the changing galaxy row gives every match its own rhythm. Cards enter the market in a different order each game, bases change your options, and players must decide when to buy, attack, destroy, or leave tempting cards for the opponent to deal with.

This edition can be played on its own or combined with the original Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game, although the eras do not line up thematically.

Contents include: 10 Republic Starter Cards, 10 Separatist Starter Cards, 90 Galaxy Cards, 10 Outer Rim Pilot Cards, 20 Base Cards, 1 Balance of the Force Track, 50 Damage Counters, 20 Resource Counters, and 1 Force Meter.

The different bases and the order in which cards enter the galaxy row can shape each game in different ways, so even though the structure is simple, the decisions stay interesting.

The market system is what really sets the game apart. Will you leave a card in the row because it is not worth buying yet, or destroy it and risk revealing something better for your opponent? Will you buy Count Dooku for yourself, or leave him there so your opponent has to waste attacks removing him? Those small timing decisions give the game much of its tension.

It can also be combined with the original Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game, even if mixing Clone Wars and Original Trilogy characters is more mechanically useful than thematically elegant."
