Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition – Crisis turns Ares Expedition into a cooperative survival challenge.

Players still control corporations, choose phases, and play project cards, but now they must work together to keep Mars habitable after a catastrophic disaster. Each round reveals a new Crisis card with a goal the players must complete. If a crisis is not dealt with in time, it lowers one or more terraforming metrics, threatening the survival of Martian society.

Instead of racing to terraform Mars from scratch, players are trying to prevent a terraformed Mars from collapsing. Eventually, a final crisis appears, giving the players a chance to win once they have restored the planet’s habitability.

Crisis is a strong expansion for players who enjoy Ares Expedition but want a cooperative or solo mode with added pressure, shared planning, and a different narrative arc.
