Vietnam: Rumor of War

Vietnam: Rumor of War is an operational-level wargame covering the Vietnam War through the Operational Scale System.

Players command the opposing forces in Vietnam, using HQ activations, impulse movement, supply expenditure, bombing, insurgency, infrastructure disruption, and battlefield maneuver to shape the conflict. Units can move once, but may be activated across multiple impulses if supply allows, creating a tense rhythm of action and response.

The game aims to make a large Vietnam campaign playable in a reasonable timeframe while still capturing the war’s distinctive pressures. Success depends not only on combat, but on maintaining the ability to wage war and understanding how battlefield actions influence events beyond the map.

With multiple scenarios and a full campaign game, Vietnam: Rumor of War is suited to players who enjoy operational systems, asymmetric conflict, and large historical games that can still be finished.

Contents include: three 22” x 34” maps, three 9/16” countersheets, five player aid cards/displays/charts, one rulebook, one scenario book, two six-sided dice, two 10-sided dice, and a box with lid.
