Yamataï

Yamataï is a colourful strategy game of ship placement, route planning, building construction, and tactical timing. Players compete to gain the favour of Queen Himiko by placing boats across the islands of Yamataï, constructing buildings, hiring specialists, and collecting Prestige Points.

Each round, players choose from a row of Fleet tiles. These determine which boats they receive, turn order, and often a special action. Boats are then placed from entry points or adjacent to boats already on the board, creating routes that allow players to build palaces, torii, and standard buildings on the islands.

The challenge comes from making the most of the fleet tiles available, using the boat network efficiently, and watching what opportunities you leave for other players. Yamataï is easy to understand turn by turn, but offers plenty of tactical depth through timing, placement, and specialist powers.
