A small German-held town sits at a vital crossroads, surrounded, outnumbered, and under constant Soviet attack. Circle of Fire recreates the siege of Cholm, where Kampfgruppe Scherer held out against repeated assaults in one of the lesser-known but dramatic small-unit sieges of the Eastern Front.

Designed by Michael Rinella, the game uses an updated version of the low-complexity area-impulse system associated with Storm Over Arnhem, with unpredictable turn endings adding tension and uncertainty. It is designed to be quick to learn, fast to set up, and accessible for players who want an introductory conflict simulation with a strong historical situation.
