Death in the Trenches, 2nd Edition is a strategic-level World War I wargame from Compass Games covering the entire conflict, from the first campaigns in Serbia and Belgium to the final offensives of 1918. The map stretches across Europe, the Near East and the colonial fronts, giving players the full strategic scope of the war in a manageable format.

The game emphasizes historical flavour without drowning players in special rules. Entrenchment is handled simply, production and redeployment are streamlined, and combat uses a distinctive dice system instead of a traditional CRT. Players choose how hard to push in each battle, but throwing in too much can mean sending men “over the top” into disaster.
