Interceptor Ace, Volume 2: Last Days of the Luftwaffe, 1944–1945 is a standalone solitaire tactical air combat game covering German day fighter operations in the final phase of World War II.
Picking up where Interceptor Ace 1943–44 left off, this volume places you in command of a Luftwaffe fighter pilot trying to survive increasingly dangerous missions against American bombers and their escorts. Each sortie follows your pilot through raid alerts, weather, takeoff, interception, combat, return, landing, awards, experience, and possible upgrades.
The game expands the system with 38 aircraft models, including late-war piston fighters, heavy fighters, rocket aircraft, and jets such as the Me 262, Me 163, He 162, Do 335, and Go 229. Enemy fighter kills now matter for final victory, making dogfighting ability and pilot development even more important.
As a career-narrative solitaire game, the appeal lies in the accumulating story: better skills, new aircraft, rising prestige, and the constant risk that one bad mission ends everything. It can be played on its own or combined with the original Interceptor Ace to follow a pilot from 1943 through the end of the war.
Contents include: 1.5 countersheets with 342 9/16” counters, 19 double-sided aircraft display mats covering 38 aircraft, four player aid cards, one combat display mat, two bomber target mats, one pilot awards display mat, one 11” x 17” air operations display mat, 60 combat cards, one sortie logsheet, and one rulebook.
