Skies Above the Reich 2nd Edition

Skies Above the Reich is a solitaire WWII air combat game that puts you in command of a Luftwaffe fighter squadron defending Germany against daylight bombing raids.

Your Bf109s must attack tight formations of B-17 Flying Fortresses, choosing approach angles, weapons, timing, and risk level while trying to bring pilots home alive. The bomber formation itself becomes the battlefield: a dangerous moving wall of machine guns, escorts, damage, and difficult choices.

Each mission is tense on its own, but the campaign is where the game really builds its story. Pilots gain experience, suffer wounds, become aces, or are lost entirely, while replacement pilots arrive green and vulnerable. Across the campaign, bomber formations become more dangerous, fighter escorts appear, and the air war grows steadily more desperate.

The game includes basic and advanced systems, with the advanced game adding pursuit of damaged bombers after they fall out of formation. It also includes a two-player cooperative option, though only one squadron commander can claim the greater glory.

This is a strong choice for solo players who enjoy narrative campaign games, WWII air combat, and tactical decisions wrapped in a strong sense of atmosphere.
