Nightfighter Ace: Air Defense Over Germany, 1943–1944 is a solitaire tactical air combat game placing you in command of a German nightfighter pilot during the RAF bombing campaign.

Each sortie takes you from pre-flight checks through radar-guided interception, combat in the dark, and the difficult return to base. Weather, electronic failures, spoof raids, and limited information all shape the experience, making each mission uncertain and often dangerous before combat even begins.

The game features a wide range of nightfighters, including Bf 110s, Ju 88s, He 219s, and others, each with distinct performance, equipment, and operational roles. Crew skills—pilot, radio operator, engineer, and gunner—play a major part in survival and success, and can be developed over time using earned experience and prestige.

This is a strongly narrative solitaire system where the goal is not just to win individual combats, but to build a career. Promotions, awards, transfers, and aircraft upgrades all contribute to the story, while the constant risk of being shot down keeps tension high throughout.
