Paper Wars Magazine 105: Ebb & Flow

Paper Wars Magazine 105: Ebb & Flow is a Paper Wars magazine issue with an enclosed Korean War wargame covering the Chinese Fifth Phase Offensive and the UN response.

Players command Chinese Communist and UN forces across central Korea from April to June 1951. The Chinese player must break through toward Seoul or push deep south, while the UN player must hold, regroup, and counterattack to restore the front north of the old 38th parallel.

The game uses straightforward mechanics to highlight the campaign’s key pressures: Communist artillery and infiltration on one side, American air power and exploitation on the other. Both players will attack and defend over the course of the game, making it less a static front-line puzzle and more a contest of timing, pressure, and recovery.

With low-medium complexity, a 2–4 hour playing time, and good solitaire adaptability, this is a focused magazine game on an important Korean War campaign.
