Sedgwick Attacks: Salem Church, 1863 is a regimental-scale American Civil War wargame covering General John Sedgwick’s attempt to break through toward Chancellorsville on 3 May 1863.
Product Type: Standalone wargame.
After taking Marye’s Heights, Sedgwick’s VI Corps seemed to have opened the road toward Hooker’s army. But Confederate forces under Early were reforming behind him, while Cadmus Wilcox conducted a skillful delaying action ahead. Sedgwick had to decide whether to push forward with bloodied troops or pause to reorganize — and the time he traded for strength became dangerous.
Part of the Blind Swords series, the game uses a chit-pull system to emphasize fog of war, friction, battlefield uncertainty, and sudden changes in momentum. Three scenarios let players explore the tactical choices Sedgwick faced during one of the bloodiest and often overlooked days of the American Civil War.
