Strategy & Tactics #347: Operation Holland is a magazine-format issue from Strategy & Tactics Press / Decision Games covering a hypothetical German counteroffensive toward Antwerp in late 1944.
Product Type: Magazine-format issue with included wargame.
The included game, Operation Holland, is a two-player alternative-history operational wargame exploring what might have happened if Hitler had launched his major winter counteroffensive through northern Belgium and the southeast Netherlands instead of through the Ardennes.
The game covers the first eight days of fighting, with German forces attempting to break toward Antwerp while Allied forces try to contain the offensive and preserve the momentum of the advance into Germany. Allied air superiority is represented abstractly, reflecting the winter weather conditions that limited air operations during the period.
This is the second volume in the Alternative Battles of the Bulge series.
Each game turn represents 12 hours. Each hex represents 3 km / 1.86 miles. Units are mostly divisions, with some separate brigades, regiments, battalions, and companies.
Boardgamegeneral advice:
“Tense and particularly fun for us because the area where our shop is located, along with surrounding places such as Geel, appears directly on the map!”
