Strategy & Tactics #339: Saddam Moves South is a magazine-format issue from Strategy & Tactics Press / Decision Games exploring a hypothetical continuation of Iraq’s 1990 offensive after the invasion of Kuwait.
Product Type: Magazine-format issue with included wargame.
The included game, Saddam Moves South, is a two-player operational-level wargame covering a what-if Iraqi invasion of Saudi Arabia in 1990. After overrunning Kuwait, Saddam Hussein pushes south toward the vital Saudi oilfields, while a United States-led coalition attempts to stop the advance and retake lost territory.
For the Coalition, air transport capacity is a central concern, representing the difficulty of rapidly moving forces into the theatre. The game covers Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and nearby Gulf states, with ground units representing formations such as regiments, brigades, divisions, and irregular forces.
Each hex represents 35 km, and each turn represents roughly 3 to 10 days depending on the tempo of operations.
Contents include: one 22×34 inch map and 228 9/16 inch counters.
