Wing Leader: Origins 1936-1942

Wing Leader: Origins 1936-1942 is the third expansion for GMT’s Wing Leader system, exploring air combat from the inter-war years into the early stages of World War II.

This expansion adds aircraft and scenarios from conflicts such as the Spanish Civil War, the war in China, the invasion of Poland, and early-war air operations over Europe. Biplanes, early monoplanes, volunteer pilots, and pre-war designs all enter the system, giving players a very different feel from the faster, more heavily armed aircraft of later war modules.

New aircraft include Italian CR.32s, Soviet I-15s and I-153s, Japanese Claudes, Polish PZL fighters, early German aircraft, Curtiss fighters, and more. The expansion also includes the Malta Spitfires campaign, covering two days of intense German and Italian operations against Malta in 1942.

This is a strong addition for Wing Leader players who want to explore the roots of WWII air combat, where technology was changing quickly and tactical doctrine was still catching up.
