Watch on the Oder explores what might have happened if the German forces historically committed to the Ardennes Offensive had instead been sent east against the Soviet armies preparing to drive into Germany. Both orders of battle are historical within that altered strategic situation, giving players a plausible late-war what-if campaign.
The German player must strike hard and quickly to disrupt the coming Soviet offensive, while the Soviet player must absorb the blow and bring superior strength to bear. With four-day turns, 20-mile hexes, German corps, Soviet armies, and a low-to-medium complexity system, Watch on the Oder offers a compact strategic treatment of a desperate alternate January 1945 campaign.
