A World at War: Storm Over Asia is a strategic game of pre-war planning, diplomacy, research, and mobilization in Asia and the Pacific from 1935 onward.
Playable as a standalone game or as a companion to A World at War and Gathering Storm, it lets players explore how Japan, China, Britain, and Russia prepare for a war whose shape is not yet certain. Japan must balance the war in China, naval expansion, possible conflict with the Soviet Union, and the coming struggle with the Western Allies. China, Britain, and Russia must resist Japanese pressure while preparing for a larger war that may arrive on very different terms.
The game uses tile-based economics, hidden diplomatic allocation, random events, research, mobilization, shipbuilding, and a no-dice system. It also adds Pacific-specific challenges such as the war in China, Japanese strategic choices, Chinese Nationalist and Communist development, and the tension between short-term survival and long-term preparation.
For A World at War players, this is a natural expansion of the system’s pre-war universe. For others, it can serve as a focused strategic game in its own right, especially for players interested in alternate-history Pacific War planning.
Contents include: game materials for pre-war Asian and Pacific strategy, including random event systems, diplomacy, economics, research, mobilization, shipbuilding, combat in China, and transition support for A World at War.
