Part of the Blind Swords series, the game uses a chit-pull system to emphasize fog of war, friction, battlefield uncertainty, and sudden changes in momentum. The outnumbered Confederate forces must conduct a skillful defense across difficult mountain terrain, while the Union player must coordinate powerful brigades and decide where to press the attack.

The game includes smaller scenarios for Fox’s Gap and Frosttown, plus a larger scenario covering the full day’s fighting.
