Cauldron: Battle for Gazala

Cauldron: Battle for Gazala is a two-player World War II folio wargame from Decision Games covering the Battle of Gazala in May 1942. Rommel’s Afrika Korps sweeps around the fortified British line from Gazala to Bir Hacheim, forcing the British Eighth Army into a major armored struggle in the desert fighting zone known as the “cauldron.”

Using the Fire & Movement system, Cauldron emphasizes maneuver, support fire, attrition, and careful asset management. Players can commit mortars, howitzers, and other support assets as attacks develop, but those resources are limited and must be used at the right moment. Two-sided units can absorb losses, helping the game portray the grinding nature of armored warfare in North Africa.
