Atlantic Sentinels: North Atlantic Convoy Escorts 1942-43

Atlantic Sentinels: North Atlantic Convoy Escorts 1942-43 is a solitaire tactical game from Compass Games that puts you in command of an Allied convoy escort group during the height of the U-boat war. As Senior Officer of the Escort, your job is to shepherd merchant convoys across the North Atlantic while limiting losses and destroying as many U-boats as possible.

Each convoy presents difficult defensive choices. You must position destroyers, corvettes and frigates around merchant shipping, decide where to place radar-equipped escorts, and prepare for attacks from single U-boats or larger wolfpacks. Weather, air support, crew experience, radar, HF/DF equipment and escort upgrades all affect your chances of survival.

Players can choose from ten historical escort groups, including British, Canadian and American formations, each with historically appropriate ships. Missions play quickly, making Atlantic Sentinels suitable for short solo sessions, while the full career game offers a longer campaign of convoy protection and gradual improvement.

The game is also designed to integrate with The Hunters, giving players who already enjoy Compass Games’ submarine titles a natural companion game from the Allied escort perspective.

Contents include: one 9/16″ counter sheet, two double-sided tactical displays for small and large convoys, three double-sided player aid cards, three single-sided player aid cards, one operational display, one rules booklet, one mission logsheet, two 6-sided dice and two 10-sided dice.
